Unseen Word: Boundstone Road 2
5. New housing development, Boundstone Road.
None of these houses were here when I lived in the village. When I was a very small child in the early 70s, my mother would take me for a walk to a field, at that time just outside the village. We would feed our garden apples to a horse there, and pick blackberries. Sometime in the 80s, the field and its surrounding acres were entirely covered with a new housing estate (viewed with some distain by the older residents who objected to the red brick and homogeneity of the buildings), and another overgrown property on the other side was leveled for similar purpose. Those two developments must have at least quadrupled the local population, and there was a definite change to the village thereafter.
